Manifested Love of Father (part one)

How does love manifest? How does our Father manifest His love toward His children?

Malachi 4:5-6 “Look, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord arrives. His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

The curse is fatherlessness and motherlessness. The curse has been overcome because we are children of God.

The hero of the parable of the prodigal son is the Father (Luke 15). Always read the parable seeking to see characteristics of the Father.

1. Fathers believe in their children.
We have the privilege to fail. Yet we have a Father who constantly believes the best. He believes we are special. We are incredible.

2. Father restores us.
Father fixes us. He does not restore us to servanthood, but to sonship. Restored to full authority. God gives instantaneous restoration. You don’t have to wait when you come to God. Things happen instantly with Him. My Dad can fix that!

3. Father gives permission.
Father gives us permission to do our own thing. He gives choice.
Matthew 7:7-8 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Ask big. God will not withhold permission.

4. Father blesses.
God blesses so that we are a blessing. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob blessed their children.
